Young Horizons began as the Foundation for Educational and Behavioral Therapy in 1967. We were incorporated October 28, 1969. Our services included Preschool, Extended Day Care, Reading Development Center, Psychological treatment and Children’s Day Treatment. We have a long history of serving families in need.
These programs were operated under the supervision of our founder, Dr. Gerhard Kohn and his wife Irena, serving Los Angeles and Orange County.
In 1984, we opened our first state-funded child development center in Long Beach serving the low-income families who so desperately needed our services. We have grown to 5 centers serving over 400 children in Long Beach.
