YOUNG HORIZONS PARENT HANDBOOK
The Young Horizons Handbook is provided to inform you of our policies and expectations for the program. Please keep it in a safe location so that you may refer to it when a question arises.
The Parent Advisory Council (PAC) is a great way to get involved in your child’s school experience. Participate on the PAC, volunteer in the classroom and at special events, join us on Field Trips, or let us know how you want to be involved!
MISSION
The mission of the PAC is to strengthen the parent-teacher connection and assist with the children’s overall preparation for success in school, career, and life experiences. PAC is committed to enhancing the children’s activities through parent involvement, mutual support, and parent education.
OBJECTIVES
We hope to support program activities where teachers, parents, and staff work together (through picnics, festivals, expos, etc.) for the benefit and well being of the children and their families.

- To advocate on behalf of Young Horizons children and families.
- To work together to provide children with experiences that are outside the center’s budget.
- To support Young Horizons at community events and meetings where staff and parent participation would benefit the children’s program.
- To meet the requirements of the State Department of Education’s Child Development Division to make suggestions for the program’s activities.
PARENT ENGAGEMENT OPPORTUNITIES
We have a variety of fun and educational ways to get involved at your child’s center. These include educational workshops with special speakers, family events such as an annual picnic, “No-TV” Night, Family Fun Night, Open House, Literacy Performances, Harvest Festivals, Parent Cafés and Graduation. Event announcements are posted on the parent engagement application, Learning Genie.
