Our literacy program is a collaboration with the Bring Me A Book Foundation to provide books to our children. Each of our five centers is stocked with book bags, which are checked out by families, for reading at home.
- Families check out one book bag at a time
- Bags are rotated weekly
- Families read a variety of books together at home
- For Preschoolers, Toddlers and Infants
This rotating loan structure provides a broad variety of reading choices. While libraries are critical community resources, the reality of many Young Horizons families is that they rely on public transportation for all of their transportation needs. This means that accessing a library can become a barrier to bringing books into the home. Young Horizons’ Family Literacy Program makes it easy for the low-income families we serve to borrow books for home use when they pick up their children.
