Volunteer & Student Intern Opportunities

At Young Horizons, we proudly offer meaningful volunteer and student intern experiences that support both personal growth and professional development. Whether you’re exploring a career in early childhood education, looking to gain work experience, or want to give back to your community, we welcome your involvement!

Our volunteers and interns gain valuable, real-world experience in both classroom and office environments. You’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Support teachers during lessons and activities
  • Interact with children through play, reading, and learning
  • Assist with administrative tasks and program coordination
  • Observe and participate in nurturing, and educational setting
  • Assist in agency outreach and fundraising events

We are proud to collaborate with the Long Beach Unified School District (LBUSD) and California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) to provide structured internship opportunities for high school and college students. These partnerships help future educators and professionals build essential skills while making a positive impact in our preschool community.

We welcome fieldwork students completing internships as part of their academic programs, especially those focusing on infant and toddler development. Interns in this area gain specialized experience working with our youngest learners, supporting their growth through responsive care and age-appropriate activities.

If you’re interested in volunteering or completing an internship with us, we’d love to hear from you! Please contact us at acarrasco@younghorizons.org or complete the interest form:
